Hi, I have 2 WD 3tb WD 1140 MyBook's. Over the last few weeks I was wondering since they have no data on them (client used them as backups before upgrading to NAS) can I take them out and put them in internally?

Or is there some sort of architectural design that will keep me from doing this.

I plan on replacing too smaller drives I have 500gb with the 3tbs. more space.

I would use the USB3.0 but my board only has 2 ports, both are being used.

I plan on formatting them into EXT4.

Before I go tearing into them, i just need to make sure these drives will be detected by the bios/then gparted.

I forgot to write that someone said that they have encryption so they don't show up, also, I have been told they are just like any other disk however I got a lot of conflicting information.

All modern WD External Drives house Smartware encryption on the enclosure.
This means that if you take the drive out you won't see the data because it will be encrypted.
However you can mount and format the drive like any other new HDD and it will work just the same.
