Hello,

A few days ago i started getting the error ''Display driver stopped working & recovered''

So i did the standard stuff that everybody recommended.
Fresh drivers, run anti-malware programs etc.
I even ran a system restore, still had problems.

Then i assumed the problem is my hardware not my sofware.

Downloaded MSI Afterburner and i noticed, that everytime i got the error and black screen mt FB usage (I am pretty sure it means Frame Buffer usage) and max OV limit go to 100%

Also my memory clock and usage go up 30-40%

So does anybody have any advice on what i should do?

Specs:

GPU: Msi Twin Frozer GTX 660 (stock OC)

There is a specific form of malware called a bitcoion miner. Basically it uses your GPU to mine bit coins. It pushes the video card to the limit causing frequent crashes, which is why your problem sounded familier. It often comes with er . . "unsafe" game downloads. Anti-malware programs might or might NOT detect this as malware, making detection and removal a PITA. But it might very well show up as a running process. Crtl alt del and look at your running processes, look for something unusual. this thread may prove helpful. https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=125...

The GPU power usage is 30% with just a few tabs open in the browser.
Not the near 100% described in the thread you linked me to.
I guess if it is this bitmining malware it's done a bit smarter, not to catch as much attention.

I will try to follow the steps in the link and post the results.
