Hi there,

I have never overclocked in my life and would like some advice on this.

here is my build:

Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache
8GB (2x4GB) 1600MHz DDR3 Dual Channel Memory
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit
AMD XFX HD 7870 2048MB GHZ EDITION
BitFenix Merc Alpha Gaming Case - Black
OcUK 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM
AMD Bulldozer FX-4 Quad Core 4130 Black Edition 3.80GHz(Socket AM3+) Processor
Gigabyte 78LMT-USB3 AMD 760G (Socket AM3+) DDR3 Motherboard
EVGA 600W 80 Plus Bronze Power Supply (100-B1-0600-KR)

Can I Overclock this cpu on my motherboard? I have no idea how to check this. How much overclcoking is safe for this cpu? How do I overclock - is it on the CCC? Do you think overclocking this amd cpu will improve performance in gaming?

I do not have a after market cooler for the cpu, only the stock fan. Do you guys recommend one? If so which one should I buy that's good value for money?

Thanks in advance :)

Your motherboard driver CD might have come with some overclocking software. If not, you should be able to do it from within the bios. But keep this in mind. The quality of your motherboard determines overclockability. Your motherboard is not a high end motherboard. It most certainly is not designed for overclocking and based on that I would not. You may be able to achieve a slight OC, but nothing that's going to make a difference.
