I have a failing HD4870 x2. My motherboard is Crosshair V Formula. Should I be considering the new R9 etc or perhaps stay with the HD7000 series like a 7950, or perhaps late Nvidia card. I just dont know which way to go?

R9 290x is the most powerful single-gpu for most games, GTX 780 is a very close second. If you're not going to be gaming, there is a completely different set of graphics cards to look into. What power supply do you have and what is your budget?

Thank you for reading, I would like to spend £200 to £300 but didnt rearly want to go over, im not so great a gamer but I love my pc and appreciate quality. My powersupply is a quality 700watt.

Its been suggested to look at the HD7950, but I was wondering if it wouldnt be better looking at the later cards or change from AMD to Nvidia. But for me its difficult to imagine that Nvidia would do better on an AMD based mother board?

Thank you, my budget is £200 to £300. And my PSU is 700watt. But I didnt want to go over the £300, if I could avoid it. And im not a great gamer. However I do enjoy qualty graphics, for me its ond of the primary interfaces. Do you think I woukd be better off with Nvidia?.

Thank you, your comments are very much appreciated. I am also watching the othe posting on the same problem which has caused AMD to tell me they thought my HD4870 needed replacing. The exact freezing and some blank screens. But on a different Radion Graphics Card.

Thank you for your advice.
