Im trying to replace my 550ti GTX to a AMD 7950 and I used driver sweeper in safe mode w/o network access. I installed the 7950 and all I get is a black screen and PC reboots once and then monitor never boots up (from amber light to blue 'on'). What is the proper procedure to change from NVidia to AMD WITHOUT the use of an onboard video card? I think that's where Im having a problem. The video card has two 6 pins plugged in and is seated properly. PLEASE HELP. This is the BEST card I can get for my motherboard (affordably). Many thanks!

My first thought would be that your PSU is not able to provide the necessary power. What is the make/model?
Does the HD 7950 you have require 2 x 6 pin connections as you stated, or is one of them an 8 pin?

Do you get an initial display at boot at all? Are you able to enter BIOS? Drivers don't come into play until the OS loads. Even then, if there's a driver issue, Win7 should use its basic default driver.

Unless the PSU is junk, that should be enough for that card. Can you test the card on another PC? But basically, if the Nvidia card works and the AMD card doesn't, I'd have to assume the AMD card is defective. It's rare, but it does happen.

No. All that setting does is selects which graphics solution the BIOS looks for first. PEG is the PCI Express Graphics slot (PCIe X16) and is normally what you would want it set to if you are using a discrete card in the PCIe x16 slot. That setting just saves time that the BIOS would otherwise use checking each option for a connection to the display.

Had video card checked with a friends PC (already had an AMD card). Works fine. Still clueless...

It shouldn't be if you updated the MB BIOS. PCI Express is a backward compatible interface.

Do a little test... Try booting up with no KB or mouse connected. Nothing plugged into the USB ports. Unplug the data cables from your drives, too. Push the power button and see if you get a display. You can shut down by holding the start button in for several seconds. Or turn off the PSU.
