The PS4 has better specs than the Xbox One. They don't have the same exclusives, though.

Just getting a new GPU would make that PC already a lot better than any of those two consoles, spec wise. But again, you don't have the exclusives. Up to you.

Personally, I would upgrade the PC. The XboxOne and PS4 are not backwards compatible, so you can't run your existing games on them ............. yet. They may do something by using online capability to play them in the future. Not my cup of tea ( I have a PS2 and PS3 ).

Well, it really depends, if he ONLY wants to play games that are exclusive to one or the other of the consoles, well that console is the way to go without a doubt.

True. I am a big fan of the Uncharted stuff which is exclusive to the PS3. I have played Oblivion, Fallout 3, & Fallout: New Vegas ( among others ) on both the PS3 and the PC and I can say that they look much better on my PC and I have the PS3 hooked by way off HDMI to a 42" 120hz HDTV.
