I'm at my wit's end trying to get my first PC build setup going. I incorporated a lot of advice from people on here (and other places to build my graphics workstation. I'm not sure if I made a compatibility mistake, but when I go to boot up the system, I get NOTHING on my monitor. I'm using the monitor from my old computer, so I know that it works. I even tried plugging in my old geforce card from my old PC and NOTHING! To minimize (my own) confusion, I disconnected everything, so all I have is the MOBO, CPU, and NVIDIA K4000 card.

I updated the BIOS using the ROG USB method. Now, sometimes the computer runs for awhile, then shuts down. I switched back to the other bios, and still nothing.

The only MOBO LED that is lit up (in red) is the boot device. Does this matter is I can't even see the screen to load the BIOS settings? I tried using a different monitor and I am about to try a couple more, but nothing seems to be getting transmitted from the GPU (no matter which one I use).

Any ideas for a starting point to figure this out?

Here are my components:

Motherboard: Asus Rampage IV Black Edition EATX LGA2011 Motherboard
GPU: NVIDIA® Quadro® K4000 VCQK4000-PB 3GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 Workstation Video Card

OK to start try this remove all the things just connect your processor and motherboard, and tell me if the mobo light is still red. And do you have a built in graphics. The other reason would be that motherboard pci-e slot is bad that is why other old graphic card is not working too.

Okay, I don't know if things changed from tweaking things, but I notices that it is the DRAM LED that is illuminated. I previously reset the bios, checked my CPU installation and that didn't help. The old GPU is fine. It worked in my old computer yesterday.

My MOBO does not have on-board graphics, so I am completely in the blind here. I'm going to remove all memory stick except one, then reset again. Then I'm going to check my CPU again. other than that, I am out of ideas!

You should do it like this that remove one ram stick and power it on see if it gives display if it isn't remove the other that one and insert the other one see if it gives display try all the ram sticks like that and see what comes up. Post the result back here.
