i had 2 (4gb each) sticks of ram g-skill ripjaws x @1866mhz and it was working as it was supposed to. i added two more of the exact same ram giving me 16gb all together however now its only running at 1600mhz and not the 1866. is this a issue or is it not a big deal? i use windows 7 64bit, MSI GD-65 Gaming MOBO and i7 4770k

With mixed sets, XMP won't help much most of the time, the XMP programming is for the package of DRAM (i.e. for 2 sticks, not for the 4 you are attempting to use, would go into BIOS and manually set freq to 1866, there's a few RJ X sets,, most popular uses the timings 9-10-9-28, then set the DRAM voltage to 1.56 or so and give it a try, if any problems, let me know, may have to goose up the MC (memory controller) voltage
