Okay, like the title says i need help with picking a graphics card/cards for my first ever Rig.

First off i have been mostly a console gamer, then i got gaming on a pc, but! Before you start celebrating i bought a laptop (boo laptop gaming)

AMD A10, 2 gig graphics, 1 gig 7770m crosfired with onboard graphics and 8 gig ram. That is what i currently have and my friend asked me what i got on fire-strike, so i checked and it was bad, i got a score of 1082, so there's some background for you (im also in Australia).

The soon to be Rig as i want to get more into gaming i need a better system so i have listed up what i think to be a decent rig as far as my budget can stretch roughy $1400 ish

ASRock Z87-PRO4 Motherboard $139.00
Intel Core i5 4570 $229.00
G.Skill Ripjaws X F3-2400C11D-8GXM (2x4GB) DDR3 $105.00
SilverStone Strider Plus 1000W ST1000-P Modular PSU 189.00
Western Digital WD Blue 1TB $69.00
Samsung 840 EVO Series 120GB SSD $109.00
Gigabyte Radeon R9 270X OC 4GB $299.00
Gigabyte Radeon R9 270X OC 4GB $299.00
Total cost = $1398 + Still need a Case and some Cooling

So Taking into account everything with out the GPU's i have $600 ish to get GPS/GPU's and i WILL be using 3 screens!!!!!!! (because i played titainfall and WoW in trip screen and its so good it haunts me)

I spent alot of time looking at GPU's and benchmarks and so on i was originally going to get a R9 280x 3GB $399.00 but my friend with a GTX 780 ti impressed me and i started looking at the Gigabyte Radeon R9 290X 4GB OC Windforce $700.00 (a bit out of my price range), i then stumbled upon the R9 270X 2GB and thought, thats nice and cheap, i wonder what its like Crossfired. well i started looking at the results of some people who benchmarked them crossfire and was surprised to find out they do well.

Out of the box (depending on CPU and RAM) the R9 290x will score around 6700 - 7500 on firestrike and when overclocked they get 9000 - 10,000, the R9 270X single card gets 4000 - 4500 points and overclocked can get 5000 - 5500.

(Thanks for reading this far its almost over =P )

then i found this

http://forums.vr-zone.com/hardware-depot/2956330-gigabyte-r9-270x-oc-2gd-single-cross-fire.html

After reading his review my thought process was something like, $700.00 will get me a 290x 3GB that will probable max out at 9000 - 10,000, (BUT i cant afford a 290x) so i can get 2 of the 270x 4GB that will give me a total of 6 usable GB while crossfire and can score up to 9000 - 10,000 but is crossfire going to make life hard, should the choice be 1 card as the option then is a Gigabyte GTX 780 OC 3GB $600.00, out of the box it gets 7500 - 8000 but overclocking wont see you much past 9000..

MY QUESTION FOR YOU, can you please give me some suggestions, pros and cons and/or and alternative (im not limeted to AMD i just think they have some good value for money)

Yes, please post the items. With shopping carts it is specific to just you. Get the cheaper motherboard and 290x if you can. The 290 is slightly faster than the 780, but louder and hotter. 780ti>290x>290>780. The 290x is probably your best choice, unless you can fit a 780ti in there. I'm not sure exactly what your price range is, and I'd be happy to help you pick the best setup for your money if you let me know what it is.
The 780ti and 290x are both great cards, and are definitely preferable to the 270x crossfire. Crossfire actually does not do anything in certain games. I would get a 290 if you cannot afford a 290x. Crossfire has a few downsides, such as heat and microstuttering. A 290 will allow you to play on three screens just fine.

Hey,

I know you are asking for a GPU advice but looking at your listed components I wanted to mention a few things.

No point buying the z87 chipset MotoherBoard if you are buying a non "K" CPU - you won't be able to use the MotherBoard's overclocking features with a locked CPU.

You also won't need a 1000W PSU.

And finally as the people above mentioned better get a single powerful GPU.

thanks for all who replied, as a revised rig i have taken you advice and lowered the PSU and gone for a card (with in my price range that can be sli'd later when games become more demanding)

Below is a link to what i want to build as my rig from pccasegear.com.au (as im in Australia)

NOTE: that i have only selected the motherboard as it WILL support SLI and i picked the GTX 780 as it look like it preforms better then the R9 290, but if i were to drop to a slightly cheaper motherboard that supports Crossfire (not a cheap motherboard just cheaper then one that has to support SLI) i would be able to get the R9 290x can you please share your thoughts on that for me? =)

Please tell me is the link doesnt work ill post the items for you

the only thing about the cheaper motherboard is it will most likely be a PCIx16 slot and PCI 4x slot which will give a slight hit to performance. If it's SLI compatible it's two 16x's
