I got an old computer with an ASUS P4SDX motherboard and the power supply finally died. I bought another ATX12V power supply and it is an ANTEC model BP500U. The PS comes with a 24-PIN MB connector and the P4SDX is only a 20-PIN with a 4-pin ATX +12V.
After I made the connections, the PC wouldn't power up. I disconnected the 4-PIN plug from the P4SDX and I'm now running fine.
Do I really need the 4-pin ATX +12V or is the BP500U providing enough power on the 20-PIN connector?

Good. I'm only using the machine to run a small web server in my own private network. The machine only has one DISK, two CD-ROMs, and a floppy.
It seems to be running fine without the additonal +12V power. Thanks!
