Is my graphics card too powerful for my power supply?

Hi all,

So I recently bought a new graphics card called the Asus DirectCU II 2GB GeForce GTX760. I had no trouble installing the card, but when I switched my pc on the usual "GIGABYTE" interface came up, however I couldn't access the bios or enter safe mode, which I can do normally. After a minute or so (which is much longer than it usually takes to go off, it usually takes a few seconds at most) it switches to a black screen with a white dashing line in the top left. After leaving it for a few hours I put my old card back in and it works fine. I then called up a specialist and he said it may have been my power supply.

So before I spend £60 on a new power supply, can someone confirm that this is the issue? My current power supply is 550W.

Thanks,
Will

Your power supply seems to be at mediocre quality and slightly underpowered. A Corsair CX600M or such should work just fine. I cannot guarantee that this is the culprit of your issue, though. It may be a bad video card. Make sure you are installing the proper video drivers.

Intel Core i3 2100 CPU @ 3.10 GHz.
8GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce GT430 (current graphics card, not new one)
550W Power Supply (I can't remember the brand, I was looking through power supply brads and think it may be APC)

More info on my CPU can be found here: http://gyazo.com/e37611fb0b1a1815e1d7f945150a6e43

Thanks everyone for their time.
