Hello and first of all thank you for your help :)

This is what i have:
core i7 860 (2.8ghz)
nvidia gforce gtx 570
win 7 64bit

I mostly play games (diablo 3, world of warcraft, borderlands, dota 2, etc) and well do some internet surfing and movie watching ;)

I currently have 4gb ddr3 1600mhz cas7 on dual channel mode, and can change to 8gb ddr3 1600mhz cas9 sigle channel mode.

now my question is, considering i have win7 64bit and mostly play games, is worth to change to 8gb ram even if it means going from cas7 to 9 and from dual channel to single channel?

ty again :)

edit: note that those are my only 2 options. I cant go 8gb dual channel lower cas, because of availability and pricing on my country. Ty again :D

Hi. The lower the CAS / timings the better. Where it is 4gb or 8 gb doesn't really matter in that context. You can get 8 Gb of 1600 Mhz GSkill at 8,8,8,24 which is. GSkill Ripjaws Series X.

hi, ty for ur answer :D I know the lower the cas/timings is better :( the problem is those are my only 2 options (to make long story short, there are problems with suply and price in my country)
my only 2 options are continue with 4gb@cas7 dual channel, or go with 8gb cas9 single channel

so considering all that, is still better to continue with 4gb dual channel cas7? or should i go with 8gb but changing to single channel and cas9?
another person answered that is better to go 8gb.

Hi. Yeah, I know I have following it. Go with the 8Gb as that is always helpful.

it is. depending on what you're going to run.all at once like msn, utorrent, yahoo, skype.etc that needs more memory. yes cas7 is faster but lower memory. 9cas is not bad either! going with 8gb is better for running more apps and gaming. most modern games need 2gb these days.

ty for ur answer :)

remember is not only going to cas9 :( but also changing to single channel

now, with multitasking it will be better as u pointed, but as for games only, will it decrease performance? or still be better cuz of being more ram, even if it is lower cas and single channel?

ty again and sorry for all the annoyance :D

Overall you'll be better off with the 8GB, if selection is that limited, imagine prices are high, and don't want to get the 4GB then find you need more, the *GB total will help overcome the the lower CAS of the CL7 and dual by the amount of DRAM

hello :D and thank you for your help :(

I appreciate your answer, but there is a thing i dont understand :( this part: " imagine prices are high, and don't want to get the 4GB then find you need more, the *GB total will help overcome the the lower CAS "

"and dont want to get the 4gb"
I already have 4gb right now installed, which is cas7 and dual channel (1600mhz)
my doubt is if i continue using that, or put another 4gb, which is single channel and cas9 (1600mhz) making me putting the cas of the ram i already haveat 9 and making the whole thing single channel.

and when u say and dont want to get the 4gb, i got confused :( dont know if u mean that i dont want to get the 4gb dual channel cas7 as if i didnt have it arealdy ,but is a new system? :( (maybe its just lost in translation thing, but i asked anyways;) )

thanks again
