I understand Hisense is no Dell ultrasharp. But, I have a friend offering me http://www.walmart.com/ip/Hisense-55K610GW-55-1080p-120... for $200 because he was just given a projector as a perk at work. Would this screen work well enough as a gaming monitor for my computer?

Anything can work ok as a gaming monitor. I had a similar issue in that I wanted to use a TV as a gaming monitor and found a couple of things:

1) Normally, when a TV says 120Hz or 200Hz, it's not in the same sense that PC Monitors use the term. It gets quite complicated but basically the TV makes extra frames from 50/60Hz input rather than taking 120Hz from the PC. You'd want to check that isn't the case with this TV (but it usually is).

2) The response times on TVs are rarely ever listed, and when they are they're usually shocking. Basically you'll get a load of input lag.

So in the end I went for a low response 1080p PC monitor, and its amazing. I'd recommend you do the same if you're into your games. Although if you haven't got a great PC or just want to do an hour here and there, that TV will serve you well.

Hope this helps :)

Thanks Havoc.

I have also been looking at the ASUS VG278HE as I've seen on some of the forums that have listed that and a QNIX as good especially if you can figure out how to overclock them to 120Hz? Specifically, I would love an Ultrasharp but I would prefer not to spend 700+ on the screen. Do you have any opinion on the ASUS?

From my experience with ASUS monitors, they are very good. This is a TN panel as oppose to IPS, so it's up to you what you want to favor. IPS panels have excellent, rich colour, good viewing angles and are cheaper than high refresh rate TN panels. The ASUS you mention won't have as good colour reproduction or viewing angles, but will offer a better experience when gaming if you have a card capable of pushing 120fps with no real struggle. If you don't, you will see screen tears and stuff at 90fps because the monitor is still refreshing faster than the card is pushing frames.

Hope this helps, in the end the decision between IPS and TN is a matter of personal preference. I have a 60Hz IPS panel with a 5ms response time and coupled with a GTX 770 it is smooth as anything :D
