I have been trying to make a DVD and even Windows DVD maker crashes when making a DVD. My I put in 1 4GB stick and it crashes when running memtest86. I also stress tested my machine with a program called BurnInTest and it crashed the machine also. I just purchased 2 4GB Crucial ram sticks. Before I had 2x2x2x2. I thought the reason I could make a 30 minute movie in Windows movie maker was lack of RAM. This doesn't seem right that the RAM is bad. I have an AMD triple core processor and a 64bit system. The board is the BIOSTAR TA780G M2+. Could it be that it is overheating and causing the crash? Does the machine shut down when the processor gets to hot? How do I get to the bottom of why it is crashing? Can the hard drive bad?
The guy I bought this from told me that windows is not stable with a dual drive system. Is that true? I do have 2 drives and they both run windows 7. I select from a menu which drive I want when I start the machine. The 2nd drive is a 500gb western digital and the main original drive is about 80gb. When I try to use Windows DVD from either drive, it crashes with anything more than 10 minutes of video. I have video editing software on the larger drive, and sometimes when it is caching files, it crashes as well. So what should I do?
