Can I run Watch Dogs on Ultra, even though I don't have an 8 core CPU or a 4 core CPU w/ hyperthreading? Will my CPU (i5 3570k) limit me from going to ultra even though I have a 780 Ti?

More about : play watch dogs ultra

Good Question! I also have the 780 ti and a 3570k and want to know the answer.

I think we should be fine however if Ubisoft decided to optimize this game for 8 treads we might get some fps drops.

Resolution might be a factor because higher resolutions are less dependent on CPU's.

I know the game hasnt released yet but what im wondering is why im at the Min. requirements for watch dogs. Now i have a 2600K turbo clocked to 4.5Ghz but its saying im registering a 3.4Ghz. Could this be a flaw??

My Rig:

Intel i7 2600k 4.5Ghz
8GB of Corsair Ram
MSI 780Ti Graphics Card
Asus Motherboard

A high-end Core i5 is more than enough for playing video games on ultra settings and Watch_Dogs is no exception. I have no idea why Ubisoft advises us to have i7 4770K to play the game on ultra. And for your question, no, your i5 3570K won't limit you.

Ubisoft recommended the 3770k not the 4770k

What makes you so sure that Ubisoft is incorrect?

I'm sure Minato and I will have no problems playing Watch dogs on ultra because of our power setups however the 3rd or 4th generation i7 might give gamers a slight edge in gameplay.

Apparently the new wolfestein needs an i7 for a solid 60 fps on ultra.

" I could be wrong but I think that the 3770k will allow for a slightly smoother gameplay experience over the 3570k"

Possibly less random fps drops however I hope I'm wrong because I have a 3570k lol

Looks like the gaming industry is slowly moving to 8 threads...

Both the ps4 & Xbox 1 have 8 cores and some of the games are going to be designed for these next generation systems.

I'm aware that the cores on the next gen consoles are not very powerful compared to a i5 or i7.

Maybe it's time to upgrade to a Haswell E when it come out lol

Oh. My mistake and it is actually i7 3770 not 3770K. lol. Yeah, an Intel i7 is powerful than an i5 but when it comes to video games, the difference is negligible(merely a 1 or 2 fps difference). However this could change in a year or two, when games want to utilize 8 threads instead of the usual 4 threads, but even then, the advantage will be *small* and an i5 would still perform well.

My opinion on this specs by UbiSoft is, this game may be poorly optimized, seeing how they optimized Assassin's Creed titles. Lets wait for the benchmarks.

It can also change in a day or a week with Wolfenstein and watchdogs however we won't know until tests are done...

AC1, AC2, Brotherhood & revelations are easy to max out even @ 1440p.

AC3 & AC4 are much harder to max out however there is always the option of turning down the settings.

Literally any haswell i5 is more than twice as strong as the PS4 and X1 processors by a wide margin even in games that use 8 cores - optimization will not bridge that gap.
