I've decided on a MSI Geforce GTX 760. http://www.scan.co.uk/products/2gb-msi-gtx-760-twin-frozr-gaming-oc-28nm-pcie-30-(x16)-6008mhz-gddr5-gpu-1085mhz-boost-1150mhz-core But, as I understand it, has a thermal design power of 170 watts. Consequently the GPU has one 6 pin and one 8 pin pci-e power input. Since I would be upgrading from a GTX 560 all I have is 2 6 pin power adapters. My question is: Would I be okay plugging a 6 pin pci-e power into an 8 pin slot until I can get a new PSU? Thanks.

You need all of it. Some PSUs have a 6 PIn and Another 6Pin with an additinal 2 Pin to make up the 8 pin connector.
