when i was installing my 4670k into my AR Z87 Pro 4, the arm to lock the cover onto the cpu to secure it took a surprising amount of force to push down. after looking it up, a lot of people said it was normal and to push it down. i did, and it left two dents in the cpu on either side (on the edge of the cpu with a lower height than the center part. will my cpu work?

Are you sure you did not put the CPU the other way around? There are 2 small slices made in the edge of the CPU and 2 beveled parts on the socket that only fit if you place the CPU the correct way. The cover should not take much force. You need to use 2 fingers and push a bit, but not really much force.

You may have bent some pins.

im 100% sure it was seated correctly. i even took it out again and seated it once more correctly and it took the same amount of force to push the arm down

Can you upload a picture of how you put it somewhere? Will be really helpful to diagnose the problem.

A bit too blurry. But I can't see any bent pins.
