I can't run a radeon 6770 on my tower. When I insert it in my pci-e slot and power on my computer, a black screen appears. What is causing the problem?

More about : run ati radeon 6770

Are you sure it is connected to your monitor properly? It may also be the PSU.

Did you connect the additional power supply PCI-E connector to the video card?

Try connecting the DVI/VGA/HDMI directly to your Motherboard and if you get signal from your motherboard power off the machine and try taking the graphics card out and then back in, may not be inserted properly.

You're going to need a better PSU.

It's hard to say without all the specs.

Also I have heard of pci-e 2.0 cards that do not work on old pci-e 1.0 motherboards. The standard is backward compatible but that doesn't mean there cannot be problems.
Also I assume the CPU is single core. Perhaps Pentium 4. It is too weak for that GPU. Even Pentium D is probably too weak.

i found an ectra 550 w psu. Will low watts affect the gpu? Will it give it a black screen at boot?
