Hello I received my new monitor the VG248QE 144hz 1ms 24inch. I primarly want to use the DVI for PC but I Want to use the HDMI for My PS3 and possible PS4 if I ever get one.

So You'd think it'd be as simple as plug it in and it works, well not today!..

Items:
PS3 SLIM 160GB (USING HDMI-OUT)
MONITOR VG248QE
HDMI CABLE

I Talked to ASUS tech support, tthey pretty much just sent me to SONY tech support say ' it should just work from the PS3' So I talked to the SONY Guy about all the settings and set them the way according to him, and it stilll didn't work. I've tried reseting my PS3 with the 3 beeps and everything, Nothing seems to work... ANYONE USING this monitor with PS3 Slim through HDMI ... let me know. Anyone else have any feedback . please go ahead.

Thanks in Advance.
-Kaygun

**Edit: also The HDMI input on the monitor isn't defective/broken, I hooked it up through HDMI from my video card on the PC (as a test) it worked fine.

**Edit: I will perform another test, using a family members PS3/HDMI to see if theirs works, They Don't have the PS3-slim 160GB they have the newer model, but I Doubt that makes a difference with HDMI connection, if there's works I'm going to assume my PS3 is messed up or the HDMI doesn't work properly, My previous set up involved HDMI to DVI adapters to my old DVI monitor and it worked fine that way. This Test with the other PS3 will be done when they get the PS3 back. Right now they Don't have it. EDIT:... I just remembered I tested my PS3 on my brothers monitor same brand monitor too ASUS, through HDMI and it worked fine, so that rules out that.

Hi, Kaygun, everything seems confused at first sight. You say, the monitor's HDMI works fine with other signal sources (PC's video card HDMI output) - monitor seems to be fine. Also the console works on other monitor (your brother's one) - the game is okay. I didn't catch one thing - was the HDMI cable the same both times you tested the game? Taking all the conditions into consideration, the cable is te only possible reason - the other two have good alibi.

Hello, thank you for your response, you said everything correctly, I'm pretty sure I used my new mediabridge HDMI cable when I tested everything. I THINK it's 1.4 or 1.4a something like that. I Will find the link:

..so just to re-clarify, -
the PS3 Doesn't work with my new monitor through HDMI
the PS3 works with HDMI on a different monitor
-
The monitor works with HDMI through PC-Video card ouput(so the input on the monitor can't be defective)

I just said the same - everything seems to be fine and neverthless the undamaged console does not work on the undamaged monitor through the undamaged cable. There isn't just sense! The problem may occur in the video settings of the console. Does monitor say something like: "Video signal not supported.", or something else that can clear the situation? You may also press the "Auto Adjust" button of the monitor while the console is plugged in it.

when trying to use HDMI to the monitor from my PS3 it says, HDMI NO SIGNAL and either shuts off or goes back to DVI (Depending on if my PC is powered on)

My PS3 settings are set to 1080p / HDMI

I don't see an auto-adjust button.

1080p means a FullHD signal. Did you try other resolution and other video settings at all? I see that it's a Full HD monitor, but we have to find out where to start from. You can also try the console's Test Display option. Look what does the playstation site say in such cases:

If your TV (monitor in our case) has multiple "Input" or " Video " channels, (i.e., "Input 1", "Input 2", "Input 3", etc.), you may need to toggle through each "Input" channel on your TV to find the correct one that will display the appropriate picture for your connection type (i.e., HDMI) during the 30 seconds, especially if you do not see a picture. The system will remain in the selected connector type for 30 seconds.

.. I Will get back to you, but I'm pretty sure I tried 720 also. I Tried reseting the PS3 and just keep switching to HDMI(as the monitor turns off when it doesn't receive a signal, like I Said before) .. I'll be back at some point. I'm really suprised people with PS3's PS4's or whatever aren't on top of this post giving info or just to say if there's even works with this monitor.

Hope the same, I've never had a PS, maybe someone who has can give a plausible answer, at this point everything looks incredibly - everything's fine and altough no signal, just don't get it.
