hi about a month ago i bought an a10-5800k. i installed it into my motherboard and booted the system. nothing happened and i found out the motherboard was fried. i reverted to my old cpu and bought a new motherboard.

with my new motherboard i am looking to upgrade my old processor. i would like to know how NOT to fry another motherboard.

NOTE: i think the cause of my mbo frying was the improper use of an adequate cooler for the a10

cpu- A6-6400k
mbo- msi a78m-e45
ram- 8gb adata premier
video card- asus 7790
psu- cx600

did you update the motherboard's bios to the newest version before you popped in the newer cpu?

you said you reverted to the old cpu? if it worked then it wasn't you mobo that was fried.

wear an anti-static bracelet, buy non conductive thermal paste.
