Bought a new SSD.
Installed it in the laptop (DELL N5010) in the optical drive bay using an HD Caddy. This is recognized in the BIOS in addition to the existing HDD as another hard drive. I can also see it in Windows as a hard drive
So I cloned my existing HDD partitions to the new SSD i.e the Windows 8.1. partition. However thelaptop does not boot from the SSD and continues to use the HDD. I also tried reinstalling Windows 8.0 on the SSD but alhough it installs it does not work when i try to boot from it.
Is there any way I can get the SSD in the optical bay to become the primary boot so that I can format the HDD.. and use it only for data storage? essentially i have 2 hdds (i.e the SSD adn the regular HD) but the bios does not allow me to use the second hd as the first choice to boot from? Any way to change this other than physically swapping out drives?
