How much power does my rig suck from the PSU?

I'm planning to buy a new gaming rig, I'm not sure of how much power would the whole system want.

These are my specs:-

AMD FX 8350
G.Skill RipjawsX 8 GB 1600MHz
XFX ATI R9 270
Seagate Barracuda 2 TB
Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3 Motherboard
Coller Master Hyper 212 EVO
BitFenix Specure 120mm LED x2

I'm planning to buy Cooler Master GX 550 Watts PSU.
Would it be enough for powering the whole rig?

More than enough... I haven't been on tom's lately but I can be certain it would run the rig with no issues, considering its FX 8350 and R9 270.
You may visit pcpartpicker and enter your rig there to get near accurate power usage estimations.
  2. do you ever plan on upgrading anything, especially the video card? if you do and you go with a much higher tier card you will want a higher wattage power supply. how much are you spending on that cooler master gx 550w?

Power Supply: XFX 750W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($74.99 @ NCIX US)

that very good quality power supply will easily supply enough power for a highly overclocked 8350 and a highly overclocked r9-290x.
  3. That coolermaster is a very poor power suuply get this one.

If your not overclocking this is more than enough and made by the BEST=SEASONIC.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

Power Supply: XFX 550W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($49.99 @ NCIX US)
    Total: $49.99

  4. A quality 750 watt should do fine. I have a 8350@4.6, OC'ed 280X, h100i, 3 drives, a few leds, fan controller, and I've never seen more than a 400 watt draw according to the kill-a-watt meter. That's with a 850 Seasonice gold.
  5. @Mad - Yeah because its not needed.. the PSU is capable of providing high wattage but the system does not draw that much power at its maximum.. A 550W PSU should be able to drive your rig easily as well.
