Hello konj ko
I don't think that the x1 riser card will work if you plug it into a usb 3.0 port connected to your express slot, the risers are designed to turn pcix1 lane into a 16x speed lane, they will not turn a usb 3.0 port into a pci lane. Usb ports are connected to the southbridge on motherboard while the pci slots are connected to the processor through the northbridge thus not allowing the setup you want. What you can do is buy a mpci to pci 1x riser
like this one
http://www.ebay.com/itm/351064060903?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
and another one of these

and connect it to your mpci slot, I bought the mpci to pci1x riser adapter and i'm waiting for it to arrive once it does I will keep you updated on my progress. But, in my opinion the hardware is the least of your problems what you should be thinking about is the software needed. I myself have been building an egpu setup and i'm using the latest adapter from hwtools PE4C-EC3C V1.2 http://www.hwtools.net/Adapter/PE4C.html
I have a Dell Vostro 3450 with an express card slot and I conected an old graphics card a Ati radeon 1950 pro to the PE4C-EC3C v1.2 adapter and windows 7 din not manage to allocate enough pci memory space, a problem known as error 12, thus you need software to allocate pci memory bus most common solution would be to have a setup 1x that will disable your dedicated and/or integrated gpu freeing up pci space but this solution will cost you 25$, currently i'm trying to avoid this solution by doing a dstd override which allocated more space to the graphics card once windows starts, I tried to make it work with windows 8 that has wddm, Windows Display Driver Model 1.3, but i encountered an error, error 31, with my drives, perhaps because the graphics card is old, any way windows did not manage to identify the graphics card i'll do a clean install of windows and i'll tell you how it goes.
