My 7 year old Samsung SyncMaster P2250 is starting to die. I am looking for a new monitor. It will be used mainly for gaming, and needs to be at least 23". I found this at Fry's. http://

It is cheap and looks very attractive. Can someone please explain to me why this is a good or bad monitor? I know what the specs mean, but don't really know what to compare them to.

Any help is appreciated

The Gateway monitor you're looking at is great indeed, and that price is just unbeatable. The only problem is that I am not familiar with FRYS. The monitor has all the specs of a caual gaming monitor though with 5ms response time, 1080p, and HDMI/DVI.

Maybe if you have already bought from "FRYS" in the past and had good luck, I would say go for it, or if a reliable friend/source told you to buy from them.

Other than that, I would order from a place like TigerDirect or Newegg and get something like this if you don't want to risk the chances.. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

I usually buy from Newegg or Amazon, but I want to see the monitor before I buy it, and Fry's is an actual store about 10 minutes from my house. I've bought from them before and they are fine. They match internet prices and have really good customer service.

When I bought a computer case from them, it came with a 450W PSU instead of 500W. They gave me a $50 gift card (enough to buy a great PSU) and even let me keep the 450W one.

Well, sounds like you had good experience with them and that was nice of them to compensate for the psu :)
I'd say get the monitor then..
