Failure Configuring Windows Updates. Reverting Changes...

Hi there!

I've recently built my own computer and installed Windows 7 Pro on my Corsair SSD.

The computer is running 99% perfect, though I've experienced a very few amount of BSOD's.

I have a suspicion that this is due to corrupted Windows files. When trying to update the computer, and after the computer when it tries to configure Windows, I'll get this message: "Failure Configuring Windows Updates. Reverting Changes...".

I've ran SFC /scannow which found errors that couldn't be fixed. Microsoft's Fixit tool also found errors, but those didn't get sorted out even though the wizard claimed so.

What are my options? Would my best bet be to reinstall Windows or use a tool/manual fix procedure?

Really need help on this, got about 140 Windows updates that won't install.

Kind Regards,
Erik

The only other thing I can think of is to use the repair function from the installation disk. But I just advocate a clean reinstall for better results.

Same result after reinstall. Is it possible that my MSI Radeon R9 280x drivers are causing a conflict?

I've got the same exact problem and I haven't got to solving it. The updates always fail to configure and I've tried everything I saw on the Internet short of an OS-reinstall. i've tried Win 7's troubleshooting utility, then the fixit shizznit from MS' website, after that failed, I got to repairing the OS with my installation disk. After that failed yet again, I tried a clean boot install and a manual install of the updates to no avail. Could the problem be on MS's end? Or do I have corrupted OS files?

I posted here because OP and I have a very similar dilemma.

Specs are:
i5-3570
P8Z77-M Pro
Kingston LP 1333 4G RAM (x2)
Sapphire Radeon HD 7790 1G
WD Blue 500G

I tried to reinstall and I actually experienced the same. Perhaps it's an issue with the AMD drivers causing interference? I think I solved it though, I went into windows update and it somehow installed there, then when I rebooted the configuration went problem-free. Strange-enough. Now I haven't seen much of the problems really, besides my GPU problem. Try doing some research and see if the gpu driver is the culprit, or try to do as I did (don't really remember how, haha). Use the Windows update program if you're trying what I did

I am pretty sure disabling the secure boot, updating and enabling it again after the updates are done with will surely solve your problems.

1. Disable secure boot
2. Run updates
3. Enable it again.

its because your computer is trying to update hundreds of things at once. what you need to do is going into your computer settings and search for updates. there should be an advanced option or something like "install important updates" click into there and only mark about fifteen or so and click install. once they install click the next 15 or so and install. the computer may need to restart each time or just after it is done but you can manually update and fix this problem.

hope this helped,
