Hey all,

Right my PC has stopped working I'm now unable to load Windows 8.1 and I am out of things to try. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Once Windows 8 boots I am presented with the loading screen (logo with spinning dotted circle) which it just hangs on forever I've waited 30+ mins, but nothing.

Sometimes after restarting I'm presented with "Preparing automatic repair" which loads, but to a blank black screen to which I'm able to move my cursor around, but that's about it.

I've created a Windows 8.1 Enterprise boot disc which I am able to boot into but, after selecting the language and clicking on "repair your PC" I get a blank blue screen that doesn't load anything. Again, I've waited 30+ mins. The same thing happens when I select "install" instead of "repair PC".

I really don't know what to try next any ideas?

Think I'd be looking at HDD or RAM problems. Useful to post PC details. Meanwhile if you have another PC capable of d'loading and either burning a bootable disk or creating bootable USB drive, try Memtest 86 and Seatools for DOS

Thanks for reply. I have tried reinstalling as mentioned above but I get a blank blue screen after clicking install or repair PC. The copy of Windows is genuine I have a MSDN subscription.

Wipe the drive clean and do a new install of Win 8 - Then activate. It will work without any issues!

What next?
1. Acquire Windows 7 install disc
2. Put disc in PC
3. Format drives
4. Install Windows 7
5. ???
6. Profit from working software

Bonus step. Either break Windows 8 disc in two or burn in fire. Your choice
8 can work well, but for me it's been far too buggy (which is why my experience jumps from loving it to wanting it out of my PC ASAP)

That's the theory anyway. If a) your install disc actually starts b) Windows doesn't go back to its bugged state within 48 hours

Sadly that isn't an option as I develop for Windows and must stay up to date with their current systems.

I had a similar problem with the install disc, as in it wouldn't start. If you can get to system restore try that. It for mine up and running again
