I have two up to 24 meg down ADSL+ drops running into my house. Both are currently using Actiontec FV2200 DSL Routers. I would like to connect these two networks together and disable the actiontec routers so they are acting as modems and connect them to a decent Dual Band Gaming Router. Neatgear 1900 or Asus one of those? I stream allot and use allot of mobile devices as with a metal roof I have to run a mobile extender with about 6 or so devices in addition.

My provider will help configure the actiontecs but does not support third party routers. I will also require more than just 4 Ethernet ports active. Trying to manage the load balance at this time is a nightmare. In addition I'd like wireless within a reasonable distance in my yard.

Is this Doable???

Most your problems of how to solve remote wireless and ports and stuff are just a matter of buying the correct equipment.

You most problematic requirement is bonding the dsl. The word bonded has a typical meaning in networks and I suspect is what you really want. You want to in effect combine the 2 connections together into a larger one. Can it be done ? yes but YOU can't do it. The ISP must do this. They will likely claim it can't it is more they do not want to build something special for you no matter what you pay. Since DSL is a form of ATM you would need to bond it at the ATM level.

What you are stuck with is 2 consumer dsl connections. The key problem is you can not combine them at a layer 2 level. This means each...

What you are stuck with is 2 consumer dsl connections. The key problem is you can not combine them at a layer 2 level. This means each connection has its own ip address. All traffic going out one will get one ip and all the traffic going out the other will get a second ip.

Having 2 IP addresses causes massive issues since any server you connect to assumes 1 IP per user and has no concept of load combining them.

What you can do it run some traffic over one connection and run some on the other. You have to be very careful that the traffic is independant. But you could for example stream 2 different videos from netflix one over each connection. The thing you can't do is stream one big netflix move over both.

Most dual wan routers have some ability to load balance but it gets very tricky fast because most web sites are made up of multiple actual servers with different ip and you would have to figure all this out....web sites assume hacking if the IP would all the sudden change as you moved between servers withing a web site.
