I recently moved and my wireless card at my old apartment worked flawlessly.

Now at the new apartment the wireless connects and stays on for about 5 minutes. During this time the connection works well and is very fast(it is a fibre connection)

But then the network adapter loses internet and needs to be disconnected and reconnected before getting another strong connection(5 bars) and repeating the cycle.

My PC is a gateway dx4831 with a wn7600r wireless card.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the card. Using different drivers. Nothing seems to resolve it. Meanwhile the 7 year old notebook I have is staying connected 100% of the time.

Any suggestions for this? It has me baffled.

I should also add the I recently did a complete factory restore in an attempt to resolve but the same issues persists.

check the channels of the WiFi around you. you are likely getting stepped on by another network.

This is one of the tools I use to check Wifi networks with:
http://www.metageek.net/products/inssider/

Free too... Look at the SSIDs around you and pick an empty (or close) channel either 1, 6, or 11

Also make sure you sre NOT using WEP security. Pick WPA/WPA2 mixed or just WPA2 if you do not have older devises as well.

Currently I dont have admin rights to change the channel. And not to doubt your theory but wouldnt the channel issue cause all of the devices on the network to have connectivity issues? This seems specific to the desktop only because the 4 other devices work flawlessly.

I bought a new wireless network usb adapter and the same thing is happening with it on that PC. It absolutely flies for upwards of 10 minutes then suddenly dies and takes a few minutes to reconnect then repeats the cycle.
