Hey.

I'm upgrading from my old 4gb 720be 240gtx desktop to a surface pro with 8gb ram 4300u processor. Just wondering how much of a performance gain I'll get and if its better. Was thinking maybe I should go for a higher laptop computer here.

Well, It will be faster. With all threads combined, the i5 will outperform the 720 be by ~30%. In single threaded applications, the difference will be even greater.

Quote:"The i5 is better. For starters you are looking ata Quad Core, but with the other, a Tri Core ( I think there is a locked 4th core that can be unlocked though ). The i5 is the better performer, even if the AMD was a quad."

Not true. The i5 is a mobile part; mobile i5's are dual-core, dual threaded parts.
