I recently purchased an 840 250gb EVO to add to my MSI GT60. I connected it with an Apricorn SATA cable to do the cloning process, using Data Migration provided by Samsung.

The first few times, it would stop 1minute and 10secs into the cloning saying:
"If the file system of original disk has some problems or bad sectors, it may not be duplicated."

After closing the dialogue screen, i get another dialogue screen stating:
"Cloning Failed. An error occurred while defragmenting the disk. 308160[04b3c0]"

Ive already tried contacting Samsung but apparently the only support they have for this is during the week. I will be too busy this week to probably get a hold of them, so i was hoping if anyone had any idea as to what is going wrong?

I have already refreshed my laptop, leaving nothing but the basic documents i saved and no programs installed.

My laptop model number is 9S7-16F442-423

See if you can Secure Erase the SSD with Samsung Magician. A Secure Erase will restore the drive to a blank/new condition.

After you SE the drive you can then trying cloning again. If you get the same error again you may have no choice but to wait until the week to contact Samsung Customer Support.

I am trying to do that now, but magician doesnt recognize the SSD connected. This Apricorn SATA cable apparently isnt supported for USB 3.0, so i have it connected to my regular 2.0 port. In Magician, it only recognizes the Apricorn Cable, and not the drive itself... Samsung Data Migration recognizes though.

I tried using EZ Gig IV to clone my HDD to my SSD, and since the SSD is smaller, it wont do it. I cant find any way around it either. I tried using EaseUS Todo and that didnt work either.
