Can someone please clarify how I would use a Sapphire R9 270X Toxic gpu with my Maximus V Formula mother board. I use the UEFI MB bios on my system, and Sapphire claims "Dual BIOS ( Legacy and UEFI ) Support....
This product supports both Legacy and UEFI BIOS. By factory default, the card itself is under Legacy mode.
By pressing the button with SAPPHIRE logo, UEFI mode will be easily enabled"
Does this mean that every boot will require a slow legacy bios boot to use the gpu and then I have to hit the Sapphire button to be able to use my UEFI bios normally? Or do I just set the Sapphire button to UEFI once and ir stays that way......allowing me to boot my machine to the UEFI MB bios, but always in the slow legacy bios speed??
Any clarification on this would be very well appreciated! Thanks

Unless you are running Win8, it doesn't matter.

Thanks for the prompt response....am using Win7 64 Ultimate
So when Sapphire says: "This card is not capable of UEFI bios, so you will not be able to utilize fast boot function from this card." it really does not affect my situation at all?

Not as long as you are running Win7. The card will function normally.
I suspect the button to control the card's BIOS mode was put in to take advantage of (and be compatible with) Win8's fast boot ability. But having had a bad experience with Win8, I haven't been back to it. So I am not familiar with the fast boot option and its quirks.

I well appreciate your responses...I have no desires to use Win8 from all that I have heard about it. I see you are using an R9 290X...you are head of the league! :)  (awesome). Would you perhaps have any advice for me then, as to an alternative recommend choice to the Sapphire R9 270x Toxic within the same price range?

If you're gaming at 1080p, you won't need more than 2GB of VRAM today, maybe bump it up to 3GB if you plan on keeping the card for several years. I have never had a GFX card that failed me except for one Power Color. That's the only ones I avoid.

You won't go wrong with Sapphire: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

This MSI is a little overkill in memory, but I had a pair of MSI Twin Frozr GTX 660 OC cards last. They were great cards with their huge heat pipes: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
This MSI would be more practical: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Look for the ones with the fastest core clocks. They will be a little quicker out of the box and usually are binned higher which should result in better O/C'ing.
As you may be aware, the 270X is basically a re-badged HD 7870 OC card. Not a slouch itself.

No, you just asked for alternatives. They are both great. I think they are both 1100MHZ/1150MHZ.

OK, thanks.....they both seem to have the same specs...other than I do not see HDCP mentioned for the Toxic model....but it must be.
Thanks again for all your help!!
