Is this a good build for gaming?

There's no need for:
The 280X
The PSU
The motherboard.

You just won't need to OC this CPU in the next years, the word OC is overused in general and won't affect your performance nearly as hard as a too weak graphics card. This makes the overpriced board useless, and you could go with the non K-Version or even, through Mantle, with a FX 6300 instead. As for the moment, if you're playing BF4 on 1080p something lower than a 280X would be enough, e.g: The 750 ti is able to play it on Ultra. I don't got the power draw data for your combination but my combination of 7870 Ghz Oc ed and 3570k never uses more than 200W, so you won't need something bigger than a 500W PSU i think. The 90 bucks for Win 8 are optional as always since you could pirate it, but saving money on the hardware would be more important.

I would not recommend a 6300 on this budget at all. Thats terrible advice.

The 280x is a VERY good card and I disagree again here. Plenty of games will need basically all the 280x power to run at max at 1080p 60fps.

The 750ti WILL NOT play BF4 at ultra at 60fps. Not even close. Sorry man.

You are wrong again on the PSU. A 280x ALONE can pull 241w under full load.

Also DO NOT mention pirating anything. We do not support or condone that at all.

Sorry OP, I really hate to be the bad guy here but please don't take what Impolite said too seriously.

What he said is complete non-sense. Pirating is illegal and it's impossible on a new mobo last time I checked. Plus I don't want to downgrade any of the parts, I have enough money to even buy better parts, but I don't see the point.

Looks good to me, I also play Rust and BF4 with my 750ti and everything runs perfect on high settings, the maximum settings if I'm playing on Rust. Considering the 280X is majorly stronger than my 750ti SC, and is also the Nvidia equivalent of the 770, I think your build will handle most games with a single 1080p screen at high/ultra settings. (more often it will be Ultra.)

Also, with a pretty strong build at this caliber, wouldn't you want an SSD? Even if it's just for the OS and a few core games?
Just my thoughts, but other than that it looks good!

Happy Building.

Ok, let's put aside the piratin thing, whatever. The 750ti averages at 43 FPS at 1080p on the Ultra preset, that's enough for most people and shows very well that you dont need to pay more than 2x its price for the 280X, there are alternatives. 2nd: Wow, 241 W, even if we add the FX-6300's 95 W TDP, we're at 336, adding a max of 50 extra Watts for the rest of the PC brings us to 386 W, a mark that will only be reached in extreme situations, and even if you go with a 750 W PSU, there are better perf/$ models than the chosen one. What you are listing is nothing else than waste if you want to play Rust, DayZ and BF4 as you mentioned, and it is easy to step down 200$ on the hardware side without losing much performance that you wouldn't see most of the time anyway, since you didn't mention something that could display 120 or 144hz.
