Random shutting down on ubuntu

I have a lenovo t400 running ubuntu 13.10. When im running Minecraft or more intensive programs the computer shutsdown by itself. I think its overheating but i could be wrong. Any ideas on what it is and how to fix it? thanks in advance

your computer cant handle it and it over heats. there is nothing you can do really. you will need to get a better computer to play games. you cant expect a $180 laptop to do much...

I can't afford a new computer at the moment so is there anything that i can do with it to prevent it from happening? Minecraft is the only game i play and im and i play on the lowest settings so i can get max FPS. Thanks a lot

You could try a laptop cooling pad, I live in the tropics and even the cheap $10 ones we have available here do an amazing job of reducing heat. May not get the job done but you'll love it the rest of the time.
