we have an xbox 360 and my son keeps complaining that he keeps getting thrown offline while playing on xbox live with friends. the connection is lost. how can i fix this problem? it also is disconnecting from my android.

Solution
i may rehash some of what has been said.

where is the router location to respects of xbox and android?
rancher or multilevel house? how many levels, how long and is there anything like a refrigerator, washer, dryer, etc in the path from router to device?

what type of lights are in the house, i agree that some florescence and CFL's have caused issues

what is model of modem and router? are they separate devices or all-in-one?

is the router tucked behind anything or as high as it can be placed?

how old is the router? (if a couple years old and provided by isp they may switch it out to newer model...same with modem)

also if it is an older router do you have it right beside anything else wireless that might be a base (example cordless...

Power-cycle the router (unplug the power, wait 30 seconds, plug it back in) and see if it improves. If not, do you have some long fluorescent lights? Those could be going bad (my boss had it happen to him). If you don't, and it doesn't improve: time to replace the router.

The only sure way to deal with this its to get a wired internet connection to the XBox. Other options are available, but will require a bit more back and forth to figure out what your problem is and perhaps some trial and error on your part to get the connection right.

Do you have only one router/access point? What is the make and model? How far from your XBox is it, both in terms of distance and obstructions like walls and floors?

If you can't do a wired network, can you install a powerline network? They is no guarantee it will solve the problem, but it is a good possibility. Just buy from a store with a good return policy. In my limited experience, a higher rating on a powerline adapter means greater throughput and a more satisfactorily experience for steaming.
