Hello, I am planning to build a pc at this moment, and use the intel hd graphics until the gtx 800 series is released, my plan is to play games at high to ultra settings at 1080p for awhile and my concern is if a 450w power supply (corsair rm450) could handle a future gtx 860 or 860 ti.

I know it's impossible to say for sure at this moment, but I would like to see what you guys think.

Thanks. (sorry if my english is not perfect)

Are you sure? the 800 series will be based on the maxwell architecture, and if I'm not wrong, the 750 ti can run in a 350w power supply no problem.

Also, Corsair is a quite reputable brand when it comes to power supplies.

i think a 500 will be the minimum you want. I just got a 550 for my nvidia 770 and plenty of power to overclock it and cpu. With 20nm tech we should see more efficient power usage or at least equal. I got this xfx one. great price, seasonic parts, and ncix has it yayy

the corsair RM series are ok. I just don't trust corsair quality control at all anymore. XFX or seasonic

the 750ti is not exactly a powerful card. corsair makes all grades of power supplies. I would not call all of their rebrand's reputable.

corsair makes many PSUs of varying quality. It would naive to assume just because its corsair it is good. also the 750 is a low watt card.full gaming cards require twice the power or more. Maxwell is marginally better like less than 10%. Also PSUs degrade over time(especially if you are running it to its max) so you want to give yourself head room. i hope that answered your questions :)
