Hey there,
I'm looking into buying a new gpu, I have a gtx 650 (gainward) at the moment. I want a decent gpu to play all the lastest games at 900p and 1080p with 30 plus fps.
I wanted to know is it worth buying a 760 or 770 now or buy a gtx 750 ti to last untill new Maxwell cards come out. If I buy a 760 or 770 I will need a new psu. I don't want to go all out now if maxwell will be coming out near the end of the year so what do you guys think.
Cheers

If you are always waiting for the next cpu / gpu to come out before you buy, then you will always be waiting. You should buy what you can afford now, unless you are just a few days away.

The best of the lot is the 770. You would be very happy with that for sometime to come. There is always new stuff coming out, but if what you have is working well, then fine. You can never get ahead or stay even for very long, and doing that can get very expensive. I am Running a GTX 680, and have no plans to upgrade it. It is handling evreything I throw at it, so I see no point in that kind of expense. There are those that are hell bent to have the latest and greatest. Fine if you have the money to throw away and try to keep up. In short, just upgrade to a good card that works for you and be happy.

Depending on the rest of your rig, i'd get a 770 now instead of waiting.
There is ALWAYS gonna be "the next best thing"

If resolution is all that matters, with a 750 ti, You could run any game out right now, if you tinker with the in-game graphic settings, at the new standard of 60 FPS. Like if you disable Anti-aliasing (which I believe is not necessary on 1080p) you'll get great performance. NVIDIA's GTX 800 series will definitely be releasing this year within the next couple of months with the new Maxwell architecture. If you really want the best bang. I'd recommend a gtx 860 which when it releases. It will probably be either better or the equivalent of a GTX 770.

750Ti is a BEAST of a graphics card. I've read review sites that overclocked it from it's factory 1085Mhz, all the way to 1350Mhz! Which made it faster than an AMD R7 265.

No doubt, the 750Ti will be a big step up from what you have now, AND you don't need to replace a PSU, which can be a little work.

Personally I'm VERY excited for Maxwell, I can see why he'd want to wait because TRUE new GPU's only come out every 2 years, every other year you just get a regular refresh, like the 700 series was. And being that we are only maybe 6 months away from the new Maxwell, I would DEFINATELY wait.

So I think you should get you a 750Ti now, and wait till the new 860's or 870's come out and pick one of those beasts up. At that point you might even consider building yourself a new rig.

Even though I'm hyped up about the new Maxwell, I won't be trading in my GTX 780 SC any time soon. It's plenty for now. I probably wait till the 900 series comes out, then I'll build me a new rig all together.
