The other day I was looking for a new graphics card to get and stumbled across the Sapphire R9 280x. After doing some research on sapphire's website found here, I found out the card recommended you have a 750W power supple :( .

My problem is I have a 700W power supply and I want to believe this is enough but better safe than sorry so I decided to ask first.

If necessary my specs are:

CPU: AMD FX-8350
Motherboard: ASUS m5a97 LE r2.0
PSU: Cooler Master Extreme Power Plus 700W

Thanks in advance.

Your psu will be quite enough for the r9 280x.- A 600w psu would do fine.

That power supply , although not a great one , has 52 amps on the 12v rail and is sufficient to power your specs with a R9 280.

It's not the wattage it's the rail.

I know, i checked the amps on the 12v rail before i posted, also generally 600w psu's of decent quality have enough amps on the 12v to power pretty much any card out there.
What's wrong with CM psu's though?

Except for the Coolermaster V Series 700watt , 850 watt , and 1000 watt made by Seasonic , the rest are poor.
