This to use with Avid Media Composer 5.5.5 and possibly Adobe Premiere 5 on Win7 Pro.

Also, does that long green plastic thing need to be reinserted before closing cover? Or is that just used when transporting the workstation?

Thanks for your help.

Mike

PS I've tried finding answers to these questions at HP and Matrox, but no luck.

Not sure about the green plastic thing (Don't deal with many HP's, Mostly Dells) But the card can go in just about any PCIe Slot. Since its only a 1X PCIe card put it in a 1x slot but it can fit into any PCIe slot even a 16x.

Thank you, sir. Do you happen to know which slot that is in an HP Z420? I tried inserting it into the one I thought was the correct slot, but it didn't fit.

Well from the pics that i see there are 4 PCIe Slots. 2 16x and 2 4x. It should fit in any one of those. I'd use a 4x though and not waste a 16x slot for a possible graphics card upgrade.

EDIT

Looks like there is a

4X
16X
8X
8X
16X
PCI

Slot config. try fitting it int he top 4X

Sorry, I overlooked that you're more familiar with Dells than HP's. Ironically, I'm switching this Matrox MXO2 card from my old Dell 690 to my new HP Z420. I had no problem knowing where to install it in my Dell.

That's what I needed! Thanks, Dr. T. I was trying to fit it into the bottom white one. I didn't try any slots above the one with the Nvidia graphics card. Not very experienced with the innards of these things. Too scary. Time to make friends with the beast, I guess. And yes, the 690 is truly a BEAST, but it was a faithful beast for years.
