Hi, so this is my problem. I have a GT 430 in my computer and am looking to upgrade. I got this computer from a old friend that I don't know anymore so I don't know much about the computer. The GT 430 can run games like Far Cry 3 on High settings at 20 FPS on 1440x900. What I am trying to figure out is if that is normal because of my resolution or if the card is overclocked and upgrading would make it slower (or the same). I am also wondering if I will get a significant boost in FPS by getting this new card. I am asking this because people say this card is horrible and if anyone is going to suggest new cards please make sure they are under 3 inches in height. any help is appreciated thanks!

More about : upgrade 630 stay 430

GT 630 seems to have a LOT of more bandwidth...but sadly both are too weak, if i may suggest a cheap GPU that can run games (not max or ultra, but RUN) would be, if choosing Nvidia, a GTX 650 or GTX 650 ti, if choosing AMD, i would buy an HD 7750 or a 7770 or a 7790, thay aren't powerful, but they deliver (i have a 7750 and i am happy with it, i upgraded from a GT 520 so it was a big jump) all these cards are compatible with PCI-e, i recommend you have a 2.0 port at least so they can work at 100%

So are you saying I am not going to get very much or any better performance? Or that im not going to get optimal performance in Far Cry 3

it is, overall, the better card (the 630)...but both of them are considered to be very slow cards for nowadays gaming

I agree. If you're gonna upgrade, upgrade to a 650 or something. You won't notice a lot of performance boost between the cards, especially for high end games.

GT630 still an entry level card. going for GTX750 Ti is better though it will be in different price range

At the very low price point, an R7 240 would be much better than the GT 430, and noticeably better than a GT 630.

I prefer Nvidia cards at the mid-upper end for PhysX and low TDP, but at the low end AMD is offering more performance/price right now.

This, AMD has better performance to price range if you're looking for a simple low-end GPU.
