Not happy with the fan noise on the PowerColor PCS+ AXR9 290X

While is was a great price at Newegg for $559, the fan noise is unacceptable to me.

Played a few games.. fans kicked upto 77%, temp never broke 70C, but damn it was noisy.

I guess I can sacrifice temp for a lower fan speed...

This card replaced a crossfire Gigabyte 7870OC version that was virtually noiseless.

So, custom cooler or return for a something like the Tri X?

I'm not sure I understand. If you don't like the fan noise, then make a change. Fan noise can't be helped. Either get a different card or put a custom cooler on it. There's nothing else you can do.

Sorry, was venting some.....is the Sapphire Tri quiter than a custom cooler?..its more expensive..

Not sure what I am going to do yet...I have no problems adding a custom cooler...i guess I need to figure it out...

If you go with a new card, MSI has the quietest cooler ever. I never even have to turn my fans above 60% and I never break 70C even under load with a huge overclock.
