No Game Sound, but Sound on Everything Else, Why?!

Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to fix my game sound on my computer. It works for videos (ex. youtube, ect.) and all the normal click sound and browser games. But when I try to get onto certain games, both downloaded and steam games, all the sounds and music with be completely off, thanks for any responses and help.

1. Make sure your sound drivers are up to date.

2. Check sound properties and make sure your game is on the same audio level as other programs.

3. Some speaker setups can also cause problems, so if you can "limit" your setup it might resolve the problem for now. Basic the better really, I find.

4. Make sure you have volume set to max for your game in the Windows volume mixer (click on the little speaker icon in the bottom-right of your screen in the system tray).

5. If you're in-game, just alt+tab out of the game and check if your game is set to max in the volume mixer.
