Hey guys I've had this problem for a while and at first I thought it might be a PSU problem but its not.

CPU: AMD- A8-3870 APU 4CPUs 3GHz
Ram: 16G
GPUs: Radeon HD 6790 1G x2 CrossfireX
PSU:650W

Of course it happens randomly gaming with exception:
1: Never black screens while actively playing the game. Ex: Planetside2 will only crash while redeploying to a new area never while intense battles are going on. (Proud to say I run 60+ fps on that game XD) Skyrim only during loading screens. Fallout NV only during loading screens. BF3 only during loading maps. etc etc...
2: This is going to sound weird. This happens off and on monthly. Yes...serious. I can play months no prob. Then one or two months happens on the time....

I'm in CCC 14.3 beta currently and as long as iv'e had this computer it happens on all versions.

When gaming I have yet to see my GPU (Which I usually just play on one because hardly any games support it -_- even if they do there hardly a boost :'( ) go past 73C. Everything else has yet to pass 60C.

Iv'e tried unistalling and reinstalling drivers yes. I dont believe they are defective since crashing never happens during gameplay.

Now as far as to describe the crash I get a solid black screen. However my computer is not locked up. For instance if I'm on Teamspeak I can still hear everyone. CTRL ALT DEL does nothing I afraid...

Thats all I can think of now. Any pointers? Thanks in advance guys.

Update #1: Just a thought, could it be a ram problem? Maybe 16G is too much? Thoughts?

Solution
Can you confirm you tried any of these

1. Cleaned the cooler with compressed air ?
2. taken the cooler off \ apart to remove dust ?
3. If you removed the cooler applied new thermal paste ?
4. clean the computer for dust build up like cpu cooler the front and rear of the case ?.
5. Tried using the computer without it's side\cover on so the GPU can breath better ?.
6. Checked with GPU-Z whot your temps actually are ?.

BTW never run a computer even more so a gaming computer on a Generic PSU..

If you have not cleaned the dust out of the system you may want to do it in the backyard with some compressed air.

Yep Seems that SpeedFan was reading temps quite incorrectly and CCC auto fan control is useless. GPU-Z showed correct temps and my BIOS shuts off GPUS when they reach a certain temp to save them. Used MSI Afterburner to increase speed % for every increase in Celsius. No crashing for 1+ hour gaming maxed out in Crossfire. Thanks dainelmoore2276!
