So i was on the net browsing and listening to music until my computer shut off. I tried to turn it on but it wouldnt turn on. The light on the mobo was on so i was confused. I researched on my slow a** phone and thought it could be my psu, cpu or mobo. First I unplugged the power cable and left it for 15 min. Came back and tried to turn everything on. All I saw was the cpu fan and the psu fan trying to spin and turn on. So at this point I was thinking it was the psu not giving enough power to my system. So I unplugged everything and jumped it. After jumping it it seemed to be working because the fan would run. I then hooked up just the mobo to the psu and for some odd reason it turned on. I then started hooking up everything then rebooted my computer and to my surprised it turned back on. So the question is, what could of caused my computer to shut off in the first place?? Im a noob at computers so if there are percussion i could take in the future or something that would be great. my rig was just built 2 months ago so everything is basically brand new.

pc will shut off for two issue one for an over heat. both the cpu and power supplys and gpus if there temps get to hot they will shut down to save themselves. use open hardware monitor and msi afterburner. check your cpu and gpu temps. make sure your gpu fan is working as you power supply fan. if your rig over heated it wont turn on till the part cools off. in the bios and with some diag programs watch your power supply output make sure it holding. with some power supply all that needs to happen is the 12v plus rail fails to hold 12v and your cpu and gpu will shut down. the power supply will run if jumpered but the output is missing and wont turn the cpu or gpu on. the motherboard power good led will still come on. (5v line check).

I thought the computer was running good until it started acting up again. what i did prior was just unplugged the power cord to make sure there isnt any electricity running to the computer. waited a day, because the computer would not boot after 15-30 min. After i got the computer to boot it ran for about 10 min then died again. this time i waited a few days to get it to boot up again. I'm really lost at this and if i can fix it myself i would because i dont want to take my computer to someone else to fix. i've checked the logs and all it show is this.

Event ID: 41 Source: Kernel-Power Log:System, and this is for critical event type. i know the kernel power just means unsuspected shut down.

For errors i got ID: 10 WMI Source: Application. im not sure what this is.

im not sure on what to check. dont know if its the psu, software, Processor or OS. i was under the impression that even if a software was bad or the OS/processor, that i would still be able to boot the computer. am i wrong? thanks for the help and i am using the computer as of right now and i dont know how long it will keep going until it dies. also, when it decides that it wants to boot it does this weird double boot. like when you press on the power button it would boot then shut off right away then boot again. im not sure if this is psu related. should i wipe both my hard drives and re install the os? would this help?
