Hello, I was just wondering about what the best cpu and mother board combo would be for a raider in WoW. I currently run an asus M5A8 with a Fx 6300 and a r9 270x. I raid 25mans and am sick of the fps I get. I know 25mans are hard on cpus and it is hard to get over 60 fps, but when I watch live streams of some top players they seem to have such smoother game play than I do. My game seems so choppy in compared to most people. I was thinking of getting an i7 4770, but please fill me suggestions

As mentioned above an i7 is not necessary and is only going to be used for more intense applications. Put simply, if it's for just gaming & watching videos, plus some multi-tasking, go for an i5. The extra money for the i7 doesn't add to what you will be using it for.

you are going to want to overclock, a 4670k + aftermarket cpu cooler with proper mobo.

Overclocking isn't necessary. An i5 4570 and a B85 Pro4 or a 1230 v3 and B85 pro 4 is good enough. I would suggest, if you haven't already done so, turn shadows to low and disabled SSAO. I forget the name of the setting, but the one that controls spell effects would help turned down too.

I believe WoW only uses a few threads, you don't need to pay more for the hyperthreading that the i7's offer.

Well, I mean it is mainly WoW. I most just play MMOs. Will the i5 be better for MMOs because of the single threading? or just WoW?

I am not aware of how well threaded newer MMO's are. I play WoW fine on my 3570k, and my nephew uses my old i5 2400. If you want the security of knowing you will be able to handle any game that comes your way, from a CPU standpoint, get a 1230 v3. It is an i7 without IGP and about $50+ less than a 4770. :D

most mmo's use less than 4 cores, and often only 1-2.

so an overclocked 4 core i5 is ideal.
