Hello,
sorry if this has been addressed already in the past but a quick search didn't found anything.
The issue is that my system, an Intel Core i7 920 built on an ASUS P6T Deluxe V2, doesn't want to boot.
I have tested several things:
- Removed everything but the CPU: I get the warning beeps for a faulty memory.
- Tested processor and VGA in another system and they seem to work perfectly.
- Tested another PSU, mobo won't POST either.
Thing is that all these facts leads me to think I've got a faulty mobo. I'm in the process of making a deeper analysis, removing everything including the battery and making a CLEAR CMOS. But I do have a couple of questions:
- Can a faulty mobo beep giving warnings for other missing components?
- Can a faulty CMOS battery prevent the mobo to POST?
And finally, if the final outcome is a dead motherboard, as of today, are there real alternatives in the market for my Intel i7 920?
Thanks for your expertise,
Cheers,
Jaime
