GPU chip vs CPU chip

I recently decided to overclock my graphics card recently, and when I did, I noticed a heat increase like usual. I want to overclock more, but the heat is just too much. My plan is to remove the heat sink and attach a liquid cooler. Before I start removing screws I want to be sure. Is a graphics card chip the same size as a CPU? Can I use a normal cpu cooler or is there a specific kind for GPUs? Is it even possible to do this?

Don't do this. I thought about this recently too but you leave your VRM's without cooling which is just as bad as overheating the GPU. If you would like to do this get the NZXT Mount and a liquid cooler that it supports. and make sure the mount supports your GPU.
