Hello Everyone,

I'm hopping anyone out there can help me out with my headache. I did some research but I wasn't successful to find an answer.

I installed Windows Server 2008 as a vmware machine on my Windows 7 Ultimate Desktop, I have already installed AD DS and ran DCPromo.exe to create my domain (ITI.LOCAL) but every time I try to join my domain with my laptop a window pops up with an Error "The network Path was not found" I'm not really sure what I'm doing wrong can anyone help me out, please go easy on me I'm new to servers...

I disabled DCHP on my server and assigned static IP address to my laptop and server.

The vmware machine (server) is currently installed on my Windows 7 Ultimate (64bit) Desktop
IP Address: 192.168.0.18
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway 192.168.0.1
Preferred DNS Server: 127.0.0.1
Alternate DNS Server: (blank)

My laptop is also running Windows 7 Ultimate (64bit)
IP Address: 192.168.0.16
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway 192.168.0.1
Preferred DNS Server: 192.168.0.18
Alternate DNS Server: (blank)

Can anyone educate me as to what I'm doing wrong?

Please let me know if you need any additional information, your help is well appreciated.

Thank you.

Just a thought - check to see if your virtual Win2008 server (I assume it's on Hyper-V, not vmware as you said) has the NIC attached to your external network. If you created an internal-only network, then it would never talk to the outside.
