Hello,
I am wondering if I can max out Watch Dogs, here are my system specs:
i5 3570k @ 4.1Ghz
8GB Corsair Vengeance
Sapphire 7950 (1050/1470)

Would it be possible to max out the game on my system?
Thanks

Solution
The Sapphire 7950 and your RAM is totally fine and could do it. But your CPU will be your problem. Ubisoft suggests an Core i7 3770 to run it on Ultra settings.. at least an eight-core.

These are the components to run it a max settings:

CPU: Core i7 3770 @ 3.5Ghz or AMD FX-8350 @ 4.0Ghz
RAM: 8 GB
GPU: 2048 VRAM DirectX 11 with Shader Model 5.0 or higher

But your rig should be able to run it in pretty nice settings i guess. Depends on how optimizied the game will be for PC since consoles are the lead-platform :/

Okay thanks, my 3570k is overclocked to about 3770 speeds so i am hoping that that will carry me through. Also I was under the impression that the PC was the lead platform?

Maybe that's what they try to tell to the PC-gamers. But the new consoles (PS4 and XOne) are based on eight-core CPUs, so that might be the reason why it needs an 8-core to run on Ultra settings.
But the good side is that it supports multithreading on 8 cores, that will allow a lot of CPUs to run this game smooth

Okay thanks. I have mine sitting at 4.1Ghz, do you think this would be enough as I know it surpasses the 8350 in tasks such as photoshop.

Yeah, I'm just thinking that the CPUs in the consoles are very weak clock wise (1.8Ghz) and surely the processor in the next gen consoles are much weaker than a 3570k at 4.1Ghz?

the cpus in consoles are toys compared to a 3570k

Thanks, I have seen the article but I was wanting others opinions on my rig and how well they think I could run the game

im pretty skeptical about the cpu requirements

cpus tend not to be used for graphical stuff. ie, turning down the graphics on a game will not lower the cpu requirement.

what theyre basically saying is that only a handful of people can play watchdogs, even on lower settings. doesnt make any sense.

additionally, it runs on the consoles, which have very weak cpus

im highly skeptical

Yeah thats what I was thinking at the start. I can understand that the game is CPU dependant due to all the different characters in the game and user information however I cannot see how 8 weak cores could best 4 strong cores in a gaming situation.

Comparing consoles to PCs in matter of their hardware is always difficult. The console might lose a comparison, their CPU can be weaker or their RAM less big than the PC, but the software (-> the games) are designed for that architecture. They use it in the best way, that's what makes consoles that strong, even after 5 years. The same game with the same engine can be a lot harder to run for PCs since there are more than two possible hardware-combinations (One and PS4) which need to be supported, I think you get my point.

Yeah completely, it's just frustrating that my 3570k can max out any other game and it's already struggling with Watch Dogs, plus they aren't releasing a demo so I cant see how it runs on my rig before buying it

xbox one literally runs windows 8.and uses directx. it is built with x86 amd hardware. it IS a pc.

Yes, it IS a PC, but not every PC is built like the Xbox One, you know? If it is optimzied for this particular achitecture then it will run smooth and great. But if you port it to PC without changing anything it still can be messed up, although DirectX will remove a lot of pain here..

I don't think you will be able to max out the game with your rig, in my opinion you will need a gtx 780 and 780 ti to get 50 or more fps.

The 290x might able to max out the game as well however this game is optimized for Nvidia and I'm assuming it will play better on a 780 than a 290x...
