Hi, I just built my first pc. When I start it up, I get no moniter signal.

I believe everything is wired correctly, no error beeps from the motherboard, all my LEDs and fans are working, and my disc drive and HD are powered and connected to the motherboard.

Now the thing is, I only have a tv for video, so I'm using am HDMI cable. I've tried using the ports on the motherboard AND on the graphics card, to no avail. Then I used a (I believe?) Vga cable (standard moniter plug) and plugged it in with that to the tv (via motherboard) and still no signal.

I was thinking maybe i may need to use a standard moniter, to get into the BIOS, and active the HDMI? My only other thought is to disconnect the graphics card and try booting/installing OS then installing the graphics card and drivers for it.

Any ideas anyone?

No, you should be able to use any port on the GPU (not motherboard). You do not need to enable HDMI, it should just work.

Do all of these steps: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261145-31-perform-ste...

I saw the 4 pin plug on the motherboard for cpu, but I don't have a 4 pin "square" plug coming from my power supply. Do j just use 4 off of a 8pin "rectangular" plug? Everything else on the list I have done, except the couple ideas for RAM (location/one at a time)

I will try these tonight and get post my results, thanks !!

Yes you use half of the 8pin CPU plug when your board has only a 4-pin connector.

So does it matter which of the 8 pins I use? Off to one side, or the middle 4?

You cannot use the middle 4. The connector should look like this:

You can only use one set of the 4.

My connectors only come in a single sets of 8, 6(+2) 4 in a line, the 24pin MB plug, and one that is 4 in a line, but very small. There is none that are 4pin square coming off my power supply. Adapter?

Alright, the 8 (6+2) is for the graphics card, NOT the motherboard (CPU)

The 4 in a line is a MOLEX, it is used to power DVD drives and fans only.

What is your FULL system specs?

Yeah I got it now. The 8pins split, but it's hard to see if you don't know to look for it, all the plugs are black.

Everything is good now, thanks again :)
