I just purchased two GTX 770 4gb video cards and am wondering if it will run a 4k monitor for gaming purposes without bogging

The reason why I ask is because after I bought them I noticed NVIDIA suggested that the GTX 780 should be used in SLI but they are even more expensive than what I wanted to pay for two video cards.Actually your cards should perform pretty well because the two 770s add up to make more than a 780 which is decent for 5760x2160(4k) and the 4GB frame buffer will do it's job so you will face no lag

If I recall correctly, in order to even play at 60+ FPS on Medium, you need at least two 780s. So you might be able to play at 4k on low? That's just a guess though. When you suggest playing on medium or low are you talking about utilizing a resolution less than 4K or just experiencing a lower frames per second like 30 to 40?

I do like your comment and would like your feedback on why your handle is CPU's expert. Are you a professional employed by a company or is this knowledge that you have obtained through years of experience? Also, do you know why NVIDIA is recommending two 780 GTX video cards other than they cost a whole lot more and they gain from consumers buying the more expensive cards.

No, I'm talking about playing at 4K res, 4X top end cards (Titan/Black, 780/Ti)will be able to get 60+ FPS on max settings. With two 780s, 4k res will be playable at an average of 60 FPS at medium settings, and that's not even a guarantee. So you might be averaging less than 60, even at low.So in your opinion would I be better off buying a high resolution monitor like a 30 inch dell ($1,500) or wait for the prices of the 4k units to become more reasonable? $3500 for a monitor is a lot of money (at least for me). The Dell I'm looking at has resolutions of 2600 X 1600 which is very good. Currently I am running a Dell at 1920 X 1200.

If you have that much money to buy an expensive monitor ($1500 is still rather expensive), you could've easily gone with SLI 780s. You could go with something like the ROG Swift that should be coming out, supposedly 144Hz, 1440p, 1ms response time. But regardless of which monitor you choose, I'd likely wait on the 4K res until the prices eventually drop down.
